Welcome back! Today will feature Ookurikara (Jp) from Touken Ranbu in his adorable Nendoroid version! (｡’▽’｡)♡
Ookurikara is a character I’ve had in the game since nearly the beginning of the game. What’s cool about him is his dark skin and his dragon tattoo. His clothing is western style, with a hint of Japanese-style, which can be seen with the haidate(?) armour wrapped around his waist. The white shirt really stands out against his tanned skin. (灬º 艸º灬)
His loosely flowing hair was recreated extremely well. Kind of surprisingly, Nendoroids always have exceptionally sculpted hair.
Here you can really see his tattoo and his cool gloves. The tattoo is apparently of a dragon king, Kurikara, which a carving of is actually on the real sword. This carving is where Ookurikara got his name.
I really like the contrast of how he holds his jacket in a cool & confidant manner, but yet his uneasy expression gives a cuteness to him. (#ﾟﾛﾟ#)
As you can see below, he usually wears a black and red jacket, but I couldn’t pass up using this optional body part.
In this promotional photo, you can see Ookurikara in his standard pose. While the Nendoroid variant actually looks pretty good, the original in-game standard illustration of him doesn’t look to good. I don’t mind the brooding look -in fact that’s just his personality- but I think it has something to do with the angle of his face that I don’t like.
Also take note of his one strand of hair that goes down to his shoulder. It is tinted red, although in my figure it is not as vivid.
Just like all the other TR Nendoroids, you can pose Ookurikara in his battle pose! The original illustration of this pose (shown below) is actually really awesome. Before I acquired him, I happened to see him for a whole 2 seconds like this in a promotional video for the game, and was like, Who was that!?, causing me to search and find out. It’s what originally sparked my interest in his character.
He is so lovely~!<3
Ookurikara was a sword of the Sengoku daimyou Date Masamune, along with Shokudaikiri Mitsutada, and Tsurumaru Kuninaga was in ownership of the Date clan at one time. You can usually see them together in fanart.
Date Masamune commonly appears in popular culture, and even in real life was a total badass. He was known as an excellent strategist, had an awesome crescent moon helmet, and had a missing eye; which then also caused him to be called, “the One-Eyed Dragon”! <(￣︶￣)>
There is also a 1/8 scale of Okurikara made by Orange Rouge in his standard pose, but personally I find the Nendoroid to be much more appealing and worth it.
That is it for today’s quick look at the Okurikara Nendoroid. Check back soon for more posts this month.
I hope you will continue to read my posts and enjoy figures. Until next time! ( ^_^)/~~~~
